It's time to spruce up, Winona - because company is coming to town! Did you know that Winona welcomes to town more than 300,000 people during the height of tourism season? Let's get ready to welcome them!
The Winona Area Chamber of Commerce is excited to announce a partnership with the City of Winona and the Master Gardeners to beautify the center medians on Main Street in downtown Winona. The Chamber is actively working on fund raising and awareness, the City is helping with site prep needs, and the Master Gardeners are working on the landscaping plan to brighten up Main Street with a new look for the center medians. How exciting to see the touch of the Master Gardeners on Main Street!
YOU can help! First, donations are needed for purchasing the flowers and landscaping materials. Please contact the Winona Area Chamber office to learn how to help. Second, the center medians will need some loving care this summer. We are seeking businesses and volunteers to "adopt" an area to water and keep clear of weeds.
But there is MUCH MORE! We envision a downtown, even city-wide, Spruce Up Winona event. The date is set for the new landscaping of the Main Street medians on June 11th from 8 a.m. to noon and we are looking for enthusiastic volunteers to help! The Chamber is also announcing an official Spruce Up WInona initiative. YOU can start planning right now!
Join the effort by:
-Washing display windows and entrance doors inside and out
-Clean sidewalk or debris, leaves, weeds, etc.
-Hang potted planters, plant flowers in window boxes, place potted planters near store entrances
-Create colorful, spring/summer window displays
-Clean private parking lots of debris, weeds, etc
-Calling ALL businesses - professional services, retail, restaurants, manufacturing, gas stations, non-profits - EVERYONE!!!!
Start looking around you place of business and create your personal plan and Spruce Up to-do list. Watch for emails from the Winona Chamber and from Visit Winona with additional Spruce Up Winona plans. Call the Winona Area Chamber of Commerce at 452-2272 if you would like to be added to the email alert!

I think this is a terrific
I think this is a terrific effort. I have often thought a city wide spiffing up, digging the weeds out of the sidewalk cracks, removing the flotsam of life that builds up around us, touching up peeling paint, would be a worthy community effort. Good job clean-uo planners.
