The 350 Solutions Revolution team is passing through Winona as they travel by bike, train and boat to the next United Nations Climate Conference. There will be a presentation about their trip and climate issues at
10:00-10:50, Monday, October 18th in the PAC, main stage.
There will also be time for further interaction from 11:00-noon. Faculty are encouraged to bring their class to this presentation, if appropriate.
Two of the riders started in Portland, OR and one started in Alaska. Together the team will bike to Washington D.C., and then travel by train and boat to participate in the international climate negotiations beginning Nov. 29 in Cancun, Mexico. The team is filming as they go, documenting the efforts that local communities across the United States are taking to address climate issues.
The 350 Solutions Revolution team (www.350solutionsrevolution.org) is named for an important number in climate change. Scientists say 350 parts per million is the safe upper limit for carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. Right now the world is close to 390 parts per million. At the U.N. Climate Conference in Mexico, they hope their documentary will help leaders see the growing support behind the issue.
