While the previous sketching classes focused mainly on how to respond to art and analyze its values, the May 26 drawing class was centralized around practicing the art of drawing by using charcoal
Participants got their hands dirty as they learned the basics of charcoal drawing at the Minnesota Marine Art Museum’s first adult drawing class May 26.

Beginning on Thursday, May 19th, the Minnesota Marine Art Museum will be exhibiting its first two gallery exhibition featuring the work of regional artists. The Raging Red and the Mighty Mississippi includes the work of numerous artists with connections to Minnesota, North Dakota, Iowa and Wisconsin whose art has been inspired by rivers – most notably the Red River of the North and the Mississippi.

Wednesday, May 4th from 10am to noon, the Minnesota Marine Art Museum will be offering its free monthly program for people living with memory loss and their care partners called “SPARK!”. The theme for May’s SPARK program will be “photography” and the photographs in the exhibition A Maritime Album will be explored.

On Tuesday, May 10th, the Minnesota Marine Art Museum will be offering the monthly early education program called “Toddler Tuesday.” Participants can create toddler-friendly art projects, play with puppets, puzzles and musical instruments, and explore the artworks exhibited.
Toddlers, ages 1-5 years, are $2 each and MMAM members are free. The event begins at 10:30am and continues until noon.
