Winona State University's Nick Ruiz was awarded the Paul Wellstone Legacy Award from the Minnesota School Counselors Association (MSCA)
Winona State University Professor Emeritus Nick Ruiz was awarded the Paul Wellstone Legacy Award from the Minnesota School Counselors Association (MSCA).
The Paul Wellstone Legacy award is the most prestigious award given by the MSCA. It is awarded to an individual or organization that engages in high standards of public service.

WSU ranked in the top 25 safest schools in America
Winona State University sets standards for safest campuses in the US, ranking number 11, according to research by the news reporting and opinion website The Daily Beast.
In regards to the ranking, Don Walski, WSU’s director of security, said, “We can attribute this to the high quality of students that we have at WSU […] the support from administration and our trained and qualified staff.”
