Winona is celebrating its recognition as a Minnesota Legacy Destination on July 15-17, with an assortment of activities demonstrating the impact of the Clean Water, Land & Legacy Amendment approved by Minnesota voters in 2008.
Legacy weekend is a statewide collaborative project between Minnesota Citizens for the Arts, Conservation Minnesota, Explore Minnesota Tourism and various community partners.

The historic Pickwick Mill membership has been restoring this old stone mill with water wheel built in 1858 on the banks of the Big Trout creek. One of the few upper midwest mills to still be standing, it is a treasure in this area. When a recking ball was in it's future after the flood of 1980, caring people banded together to form a nonprofit membership to buy and restore the lake and it's site and all that was included.
