The film documents more than just the preparations for the stage; it exposes cultural differences with philosophical interpretations on how individuals across the globe interact and work creatively
It is with great pleasure that I recently reviewed the film, A Dream In Hanoi. On July 24, at 11 a.m., at the Winona County Historical Society, Frozen River Film Festival and the Great River Shakespeare Festival will partner to bring this film, detailing a unique collaborative production of Midsummer Night’s Dream, to Winona.

Winona is celebrating its recognition as a Minnesota Legacy Destination on July 15-17, with an assortment of activities demonstrating the impact of the Clean Water, Land & Legacy Amendment approved by Minnesota voters in 2008. Legacy  weekend is a statewide collaborative project between Minnesota Citizens for the Arts, Conservation Minnesota, Explore Minnesota Tourism and various community partners.

Visit Winona will present its Annual Tourism Award to the Great River Shakespeare Festival on Tuesday, April 19, at the Winona County History Center, 160 Johnson Street.  The event will take place between 5:30 p.m. – 7 p.m.

Putting together what has now become nearly a week-long festival is a task that requires the combined efforts of approximately 300 people
As the Frozen River Film Festival staff members gathered in the Great River Shakespeare Festival offices for their morning meeting Jan. 14, it was evident as the team jutted from desk to desk stuffing pamphlets, marking tasks in calendars, examining posters, that the time leading up to the festival was quickly running out.

Arts and outdoor events that have benefited from the state's Legacy Act will be showcased in Winona July 23-24. It's called the "Legacy Weekend," because it showcases organizations that received money from the Clean Water, Land and Legacy Amendment. That's the 3/8ths of a percent added sales tax that generates funding for land conservation, water conservation, parks and arts.
