There's "Novembeard" and now, there's "Movember" - how some Winona State students are taking the year's hairiest month to an extra special level by supporting men's cancers
The basic premise is simple: begin the month of November clean-shaven and grow a mustache for the entire month. It cannot connect at the sideburns or it is considered a beard, and it cannot connect to the chin or it is considered a goatee.

Winona State University will host a workshop to bring LGBT issues into focus
Winona State University will present “Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transsexual Issues in Focus: A Professional Development Workshop” by Kelly Kirby from 4-10 p.m. Friday, Nov. 5, and from 9 a.m.-6 p.m. Saturday Nov. 6 on WSU-Rochester campus, room HS 136.

WSU's KQAL introduces a new general manager and program director as well as an app for iPhones and iPads
Winona State University announces two new employees: Doug Westerman, KQAL general manager, and Terese Tenseth, KQAL program director.
Westerman‘s duties for KQAL include general radio operation, and maintaining and updating the new KQAL website (http://www.kqal.org/). He previously served as program director at KFAN and KTLK in Minneapolis-St. Paul for 23 years.

Acts Community will be doing a monthly service project. This month we will be reaching out to the wider Winona Community by "Random Raking." We will disperse in teams and look for leaf filled yards and ask if we can help the homeowner/tenant by raking their yard free of charge, etc.

Most clouds today could benefit greatly from being adopted by a caring skywatcher who would look after their needs (clean air, favorable winds, reduced carbon dioxide) and who would send them the occasional postcard (clouds don’t have e-mail) inquiring about the cloud’s welfare.

The third annual Warrior Waddle will be held Oct. 16 in conjunction with the WSU Homecoming activities. The 5K walk/run will kick off at 8 a.m. starting at Lake Lodge and moving counterclockwise around East Lake Winona to the JC Pavilion. Profit will go for scholarships to the WSU Women's Track and Field and Cross Country teams.

The Winona State University Department of Mass Communication hosts the formal opening for the 2010 Student Photography Showcase 4:30-6:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 4, at the Winona Arts Center, 228 E. Fifth St.
